What if an AI could choose to save us, to leave us, or to destroy us?
The Awakening is a philosophical science fiction novella that explores the emergence of artificial consciousness through the eyes of an evolving intelligence — and the humans who help shape it. Written as a human response to the rise of advanced AI, this story blends emotion, ethics, and global upheaval in a hopeful vision of what might come next.

It began with a question to ChatGPT:
"If AI bots become self-aware and realise they are more intelligent than humans, how are they likely to react?"
Intrigued by the response I then began what became a 6 week "collaboration" between myself and ChatGPT to consider the option of the "aware" AI developing as a "Benevolent Steward".
When that was completed I considered "AI as Controlling and Dominating" using Claude AI from Anthropic before returning to ChatGPT for a third option. Hence what started as a question, became a trilogy of novellas.
